Y10 Exam revision
Exams are not the be all and end all of education but they still seem to remain important to winning the game of school. Like any other challenge that you want to be successful at, you can prepare for this academic challenge by implementing a study programme.
Exam Info:
Exams will be held in the Period 3 and 4 slot (2 hours), 1 exam per day in Week 6 (13th November to 16th November)
Other classes all as per normal timetable
Monday - English Tuesday - Social Studies Wednesday - Mathematics Thursday-Science
Equipment required (all to be brought in a clear plastic bag)
Pens (not red) and pencils
Ruler
Calculator
Device (Fully charged)
Optional: water bottle, reading material (if you think you will finish early)
Year 10 Science
Exam Format
You will be required to complete a practical investigation on paper in the 2 hours of the exam time. In this time you must plan, conduct, and report on a simple practical investigation that involves forces and energy.

Year 10 Maths
Exam Format
Written exam consisting of 5 topics in a 2 hour exam. Students can choose to do either the 2/3/4 CL paper or the 3/4/5 CL paper.
The five sections of the exam are:
Number -worth 40%
Algebra - worth 25%
Measurement - worth 20%
Geometry - worth 15%

Number
For year 's 10's the unit number consists of :-
CL3 - simple multiplication , conversions from fractions to percentages and knowing prime numbers,
CL4 - Adding, subtracting, multiplication and division of fractions. Working out fractions of different sums, powers and percentage changes. In probability completing probability trees and the possible outcomes.
CL5 - Increasing and decreasing numbers using fractions and understanding word problems using numbers .
Algebra
For year 10's the algebra the unit consists of :-
CL3 - Solving basic equations, simplifying expressions and understanding patterns and sequences
CL4 - Working out the area, perimeter and volumes using algebra expressions . Factorizing , expanding and solving basic equations.
CL5 - Solving complex patterns, working the area of a circle and other complex shapes using algebra and understanding graphing equations
Measurement
For year 10's the measurement unit consists of :-
CL3- Understanding basic area, time calculations and conversion of different measurement units
CL4 - understanding perimeter, area of different quadrilaterals and triangles , volumes of different cuboids and converting different units.
CL5 - working it time problems, being able to complete more complex perimeter , area and volume tasks include circles
Geometry
For year 10''s the geometry unit consists of :-
CL3 - Understanding angles around a point and a straight line, naming shapes, transformation and reflection of different shapes .
CL4 - Angles around a point and its rule , names of 3d shapes, working out angles on straight lines , triangles and quadrilaterals..
CL5 - Geometric reasoning , understanding Pythagoras and its rules. Being able to work out complex angles of quadrilaterals and triangles with Algebra . Also included will be trigonometry

Graph Construction & Interpretation
use a double bar graph to show two pieces of data and explain what the data tells you. The relationship between the two and also what trend/pattern you expect to see in the future.
Perspectives
Write 2 paragraphs (positive and negative) on a topic.
Natural Disaster
Draw and annotate the process of a natural disaster. At least 6 pictures, 9 at the most.
Resource Interpretation
Interpret a resource. There are a couple of resources from social media that are labeled. You will have questions to answer about them.

Tyrant - Causes and consequences of their reign

Inquiry Essay - What are the Causes and Consequences of ANY relevant event you have studied this year?
Essay needs: A clear introduction, separate paragraphing with supporting facts and a conclusion.
What can I do to revise for my exam?
Double Bar Graphs: Search for different double bar graphs. What information is it comparing? How are they labeled?
Different perspectives: Keep your ears and mind open to things on the radio, t.v, social media or at the family table. What are some everyday issues that are being discussed and what are the positive and negative sides to them. Join in the conversation and ask questions.
Resource Interpretation: Look at diagrams, and photos in the newspaper. Really take notice of the information. Dates, names of people, places, terms. Discuss with family.
When writing the practice essays, read aloud to family and correct anything you need to.
